Belmont is the town I grew up in, and I have fond memories of the small town feel which still exists today. There are wooded hills, abundant trees and vast canyons. I’ve often referred to it as “Sausalito South” as it is primarily a hillside community without a lot of sidewalks. There isn’t a traditional downtown area due to geography, but the town offers an abundance of restaurants and shopping opportunities. If you’re looking to get the most bang for your house-shopping buck, you can purchase a bit more home here than in neighboring San Mateo and San Carlos.
The schools are part of the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District and are considered an excellent choice for your children as the have exceptionally high test scores. There’s also a great private college with rich history at Notre Dame de Namur.
Belmont is ideally situated between Highways 92, 280 and 101, so it’s a wonderful commuter’s location.
The weather is moderate, although being closer to Highway 92 as it winds over to Half Moon Bay, the westerly side of Belmont can experience a bit more wind and fog than lower Belmont and other nearby cities.
