Bay Area Peninsula to Silicon Valley

The San Mateo County/Silicon Valley area is located on a 60 mile peninsula south of San Francisco. It's bordered on the east by the Bay and on the west by the Pacific Ocean. The term "peninsula" technically refers to the entire geographical San Francisco Peninsula, but in local terms, it doesn't include San Francisco. The southern tip is Santa Clara County including the cities of Palo Alto, Los Altos and Mountain View.

The area is home to a host of high profile Silicon Valley technology companies including Oracle, Electronic Arts, Google, Facebook, Linked In and Apple.

There are over 30 miles of bay front, much of it served by walking trails and almost 60 miles of Pacific Ocean frontage. Recreational and entertainment opportunities are endless here. You can see the Giants or 49ers play, attend a Stanford game and breeze over to the coast and have a cocktail at the Ritz Carlton while watching the sunset over the Pacific. There are two large regional shopping malls--Hillsdale in San Mateo and Stanford in Palo Alto.

The weather overall is moderate year-round. The northerly cities below San Francisco will see a bit more fog than the central and southerly cities. If the weather around your new home is important, Jackie can help find the best real estate location for you.
